Announcement of Application for Individual Income Tax Certificate for Foreign Taxpayers

Miaoli Branch, National Taxation Bureau of the Central Area, Ministry of Finance indicated that foreign taxpayers who have already filed their income taxes should apply for their Individual Income Tax Certificate from regional tax administrations.

The Branch explains that foreign taxpayers need the tax certificate to apply for a work permit, an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC), or for filing tax in their native countries. They should show the tax authority their original ARC or passport when applying in person.

If an foreign taxpayer cannot apply in person, their agent is required to show a proxy statement which bears the foreign taxpayer's signature, which should be identical with the one shown in the passport. The agent is also required to present their ID card (if the agent is not an R.O.C citizen, he/she must show their original ARC or passport) at the time of application.

If you have any questions, please call the toll-free service number 0800-000321 for consultation, and we will do our best to serve you.
