The National Taxation Bureau of the Central Area, Ministry of Finance (hereinafter referred to as the NTBCA) stated that if an individual finds his name was impersonated, he can ask for the removal of the false identity with a written declaration and identification documents, avoiding unnecessary trouble.
NTBCA stated that people must offer the names and addresses of the reporter and the reportee as well as specific evidence of the reported tax evasion to the Tax Authority. If the evidence is not complete, the Tax Authority will notify the reporter of supplementary or other new evidence within 10 days and then will respond to the reporter when the case is concluded. Therefore, the impersonation situation will ultimately be found after the tax letter is received.
NTBCA emphasizes that people must report tax evasion cases using their own identification. Additionally, the Tax Authority shall keep the reporter's identity in the strictest confidence when it receives a report case. All materials related to any reported cases shall be kept and sealed by responsible personnel and then given to staff for auditing. NTBCA appeals to the public not to use someone else's identity when reporting due to concern about personal identity exposure, in order to process legal issues and disputes.
